What’s new?

• Digital diplomacy is no longer just a buzzword, but has become a “core component” of EU external action. The Council Conclusions on EU digital diplomacy focus on strengthening the EU’s global role in digital affairs, on the basis of common geopolitical priorities.
  

• The University World News examines the effect of Microcredentials on student mobility: "Micro-credentials: An important part of a bigger ecosystem" 
  

• Are you currently working on a credential repository, verification service or digital credential research or infrastructure project? Please take the time to contribute data on your initiative and take part in the survey for the Digital Credentials Initiatives Monitor. Data collection is currently ongoing, the monitor will be available for public use from October.

What’s next?

• Join Dr Julie Reddy (CEO of the South African Qualifications Authority) today, Sep 21, from 4:00 - 5:00 p.m. CEST as she spotlights the South African approach to digital credentialing and shares her recommendations for the recognition of international qualifications and part-qualifications at this month’s Digital Credentials Regulars. • EUNIS and 1EdTech are partnering on two linked events exploring the development of an edtech ecosystem to meet European needs and allow for competition in a global market. The virtual 1EdTech Europe Leadership Summit, taking place onOct 3-4 is open to all and free to attend. Registration and agenda can be found here.

• UNESCO Higher Education Conversations will be highlighting international mobility flows from a South-South perspective in the contect of the Global Convention on the Recognition of Qualifications concerning Higher Education. Register for the talk on Oct 4 from 2:00-3:00 p.m. CET.

• Registration for the GDN Annual Meeting on its 10th anniversary from Oct 12-14 is still open. The focus on learner centricity, interoperability and lifelong learning offers a varied programme.

• We are taking a deep dive into the topic of Quality Assurance at our next Digital Credentials Regulars, save the date Oct 18, 4:00-5:00 p.m. CET for a closer look at the European Quality Assurance Register for Higher Education with Colin Tück.

• Take part in the EDUCAUSE Annual Conference will be taking place in Denver (Oct 25-28) and online (Nov 2-3), this year’s theme is A Better Higher Ed Begins with You.

• Register for the bi-annual PESC Data Summit from Oct 26-28 in Vancouver and support the task forces on topics including JSON-LD, Microcredentials and Gender Identity.
